There are names and there is naming like a demigod on Earth for the first time There's a bump in a name A jolt toward wakefulness Secret names that can be used against you The name we have is a mask to hide the part of us too afraid to look outside the recessed nature of our souls The names we use are designed to tell others what to expect of us The soft presence on my lips of other names is like ambrosia served in clay jars And me like other mortals with wide eyes unable to hear the names we whisper to ourselves when no one is listening
