These half-remembered memories haunt me
I remember it was a bright day with a sky
overhead like a dyed-blue sheet
But I do not recall how
the sunlight felt on my skin

Only some of these things are big
Bigger than sunlight and dreams
Things I should know the details of
Pain I should know so I never know it
again

The way we talk matters
The things we say spring like traps
Heart-meal for worms best left unsaid
I stutter I try
again

It all falls off the edge
like a shadow in moonlight
stretching off into the dark
