These half-remembered memories haunt me I remember it was a bright day with a sky overhead like a dyed-blue sheet But I do not recall how the sunlight felt on my skin Only some of these things are big Bigger than sunlight and dreams Things I should know the details of Pain I should know so I never know it again The way we talk matters The things we say spring like traps Heart-meal for worms best left unsaid I stutter I try again It all falls off the edge like a shadow in moonlight stretching off into the dark
